Grants

Grants are a form of need-based financial aid that does not need to be repaid. Eligibility is determined by the information you provide on your FAFSA. Grants are awarded by the federal and state governments, as well as by UT.

Federal Grants

Federal Pell Grant: Awarded to undergraduate students with significant financial need.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program: Awarded to undergraduate students with the greatest financial need and helps supplement the Federal Pell Grant.

Pell Grant Eligibility

Eligibility and annual amounts are determined by Congress and can change from year to year. Many circumstances may impact or change Federal Pell Grant eligibility, including how much you are eligible to receive each semester.

Pell Recalculation

Pell Recalculation is the process of reviewing and adjusting Pell Grants for eligible students based on changes in their enrollment during the semester. Any changes to enrollment after the Pell Recalculation date will not affect the Pell Grant amount for that term.

Review the Academic Calendar for specific dates by academic year:

Term Pell Recalculation Date
Fall Semester 12th class day
Spring Semester 12th class day
Summer Semester* 4th class day
